Description

ELEVN CHROMOLY COGS

Product Overview

The Elevn Chromoly Cog is a CNC-machined steel cassette cog designed for BMX single-speed drivetrains with Shimano-compatible cassette hubs. Machined from chromoly steel with a 5mm-wide base, this cog provides a wider contact surface with the freehub body to distribute pedaling forces and reduce wear on the hub's splines.

Key Features

  • Chromoly steel construction – CNC-machined from high-strength steel provides exceptional wear resistance and long service life under pedaling loads
  • 5mm-wide base – Wider cog base increases contact area with the freehub body, improving load distribution and reducing freehub spline wear
  • Shimano-compatible spline – Fits standard Shimano cassette freehub bodies, the most common interface for BMX cassette hubs
  • Multiple tooth count options – Available in 14T to 18T for different gearing preferences and racing requirements

Technical Specifications

  • Material: Chromoly steel, CNC-machined
  • Spline type: Shimano-compatible cassette
  • Base width: 5mm
  • Available tooth counts: 14T, 15T, 16T, 17T, 18T
  • Hub compatibility: Shimano-compatible cassette hubs

Compatibility and Ideal Use Cases

This cog fits BMX cassette hubs with Shimano-compatible spline patterns—the industry standard for most cassette hubs. Not compatible with oversized (OS) spline hubs or other non-Shimano spline patterns. Verify your hub uses Shimano splines before ordering. Requires a cassette lockring (sold separately) to secure the cog to the freehub body.

Best suited for BMX riders using Shimano-compatible cassette hubs who want maximum durability and reduced freehub wear. The chromoly steel construction resists wear from chain engagement far better than aluminum cogs, making this ideal for riders who put high torque through the drivetrain, ride frequently, or want extended cog life. The 5mm-wide base distributes pedaling forces across a larger freehub surface, reducing the likelihood of damaging the freehub splines—a common issue with narrow-base cogs under hard acceleration. Choose tooth count based on gearing preference and track requirements—smaller cogs (14T-15T) for higher gearing and top speed, larger cogs (17T-18T) for easier acceleration and lower gearing. Ideal for racing, park, street, or dirt riding where drivetrain durability and consistent performance matter. Not compatible with oversized spline hubs—use OS-specific cogs for those applications.
