Description
Excess Mini/Expert Alloy Front M6 Axle
Product Overview The Excess Mini/Expert Alloy Front M6 Axle is a replacement axle engineered for Excess Mini/Expert front hubs and XLS-1, XLS-2, XLS-3 wheels. The aluminum construction reduces weight while maintaining adequate strength for 24" racing and training. The M6 BTR (bolt through rotor) screw clamping system enables secure wheel retention on modern disc-brake BMX frames.
Key Features
- Aluminum Construction – Lightweight alloy reduces overall wheel and bike weight; resists corrosion and maintains durability for extended use
- M6 BTR Compatibility – Engineered for M6 bolt through rotor screw clamping system; enables secure wheel retention on disc-brake equipped frames
- Mini/Expert Specific – Precision-engineered for Excess Mini/Expert front hub specifications; ensures proper bearing and hub body alignment

Installation Notes Remove front wheel and disassemble axle from hub. Clean axle seat in frame dropouts. Install new axle through frame dropouts and hub body. Thread M6 BTR bolts hand-tight through both dropouts into axle. If using disc rotor, install rotor onto axle before final tightening. Tighten progressively in alternating sequence (left-right-left-right) to ensure even clamping pressure and proper wheel alignment. Final tightness should be snug but not excessive—over-tightening can strip threads or crack dropouts.
Maintenance Notes Check M6 bolt tightness regularly before riding, especially after extended riding sessions or impacts. Loose bolts compromise wheel retention and handling precision. Replace axle if threads become stripped, if axle bends, or if bolts loosen repeatedly despite proper tightening. Verify disc rotor alignment after installation if rotor is installed.
Performance Note Properly installed and tightened axle ensures consistent wheel alignment and eliminates lateral play that can affect steering precision and front-end handling—critical for competitive 24" racing performance and responsive bike control.
Compatibility Reminder Compatible with Excess Mini/Expert front hubs and XLS-1, XLS-2, XLS-3 wheels (451 ETRTO) only. Verify your hub size (Mini/Expert) before purchase—incompatible with Pro-size front hubs or other Excess front hub variants.
