Description

Freewheel – 1/8″ Teeth

This freewheel is available in two threading options to accommodate different hub types: 30mm × 1mm threading for the small side of flip-flop hubs, and 1.375″ × 24 TPI threading for standard BMX freewheels. Available in multiple tooth counts from 13T to 18T, this freewheel allows riders to customize their gear ratio for acceleration, top speed, or specific riding styles.

Key Features

  • Multiple Tooth Count Options (13T–18T) – Five gear ratio choices allow riders to tune their drivetrain for gate starts (smaller cogs like 13T-14T), balanced performance (15T-16T), or higher top speed with easier pedaling (17T-18T)
  • 1/8″ Tooth Width – Standard single-speed chain width used across BMX; compatible with all 1/2″ × 1/8″ BMX chains
  • Two Threading Options Available – 30mm × 1mm threading fits the small side of flip-flop hubs; 1.375″ × 24 TPI threading fits standard BMX freewheel hubs

Technical Specifications

  • Tooth Count Options: 13T, 14T, 16T, 17T, 18T
  • Chain Compatibility: 1/8″ teeth (1/2″ × 1/8″ BMX chain)
  • Threading Options:
    • 30mm × 1mm (for flip-flop hub small side)
    • 1.375″ × 24 TPI (standard BMX freewheel thread)
  • Weight: Not specified

Compatibility and Ideal Use Cases

Threading Selection:

  • 30mm × 1mm – Use this threading for flip-flop hubs where the freewheel mounts on the smaller threaded side (opposite the fixed gear side). Verify your flip-flop hub specifications before ordering.
  • 1.375″ × 24 TPI – Standard BMX freewheel threading found on most traditional BMX freewheel hubs; this is the most common threading for BMX applications.

Tooth Count Selection:

  • 13T-14T – Smaller cogs provide quicker acceleration and easier pedaling from a standstill; ideal for BMX racing gate starts or technical street riding where rapid speed changes are common. Lower top-end speed.
  • 16T – Balanced middle option that provides reasonable acceleration with moderate top speed; versatile for mixed riding styles.
  • 17T-18T – Larger cogs offer higher top-end speed and easier sustained pedaling at speed; better for cruising, longer straightaways, or riders who want less leg speed at higher velocities. Slower acceleration from stops.

Best suited for riders running freewheel-equipped BMX bikes who want to change their gear ratio or replace a worn freewheel. Ensure you select the correct threading type based on your hub specifications—using the wrong threading will result in improper fit and potential damage to hub threads.
