Description

HT T2-SX BMX Clipless Pedals

Product Overview

The HT T2-SX Pedals are BMX racing-specific clipless pedals developed with professional riders from the Chase BMX team. Featuring aluminum body construction, chromoly spindles, and HT's exclusive cleat system, these pedals provide secure engagement with adjustable float and controlled release for racing applications. Built with sealed bearings and IGUS bushings for smooth, low-maintenance performance at 372 grams per pair.

Key Features

  • BMX racing-specific design – Developed with pro riders to handle the power output, airtime, and impacts of competitive BMX racing while preventing unintended clip-outs
  • Adjustable float with secure retention – Stiffer engagement feel than MTB clipless pedals while providing enough float for foot positioning adjustments without accidental release
  • Aluminum extruded/CNC-machined body – Lightweight platform with precision-machined surfaces for accurate cleat engagement and durability
  • CNC-machined chromoly spindles – Heat-treated chromoly axles provide strength and durability under high pedaling loads and impacts
  • Sealed bearings with IGUS bushings – Sealed cartridge bearings plus low-friction bushings ensure smooth rotation and reduced maintenance
  • HT exclusive cleat system – X2/X1/X1F cleat compatibility (not SPD-compatible); allows tuning engagement and release characteristics
  • 2 grip pins per side – Traction pins provide platform grip when unclipped or during entry/exit
  • Compact platform – 68 × 84 × 17mm dimensions balance weight savings with adequate cleat interface area

Compatibility and Ideal Use Cases

These pedals fit any cranks with standard 9/16" pedal threads—the threading used on all modern 3-piece BMX cranks. They will NOT work with 1/2" threads found on 1-piece cranks. Critical: HT pedals use a proprietary cleat system (X2, X1, X1F) and are NOT compatible with Shimano SPD or other two-bolt cleat standards. Replacement cleats must be HT-branded and matched to pedal model. The X2, X1, and X1F cleats offer different engagement/release characteristics—consult HT documentation or experienced retailers for cleat selection based on rider preference and experience level. Ideal for competitive BMX racers who want the efficiency and power transfer of clipless pedals with BMX-specific characteristics (stiffer engagement, controlled float, reliable retention through gate impacts and jumps). The sealed bearing and bushing system reduces maintenance compared to loose ball or unsealed designs—suitable for racing in dusty, muddy, or wet conditions. The compact platform and low weight (186g per pedal) suit racing where minimal rotating mass matters. The grip pins provide traction during clipping in or unclipped riding, though these are primarily clipless pedals, not dual-platform designs. Not recommended for freestyle BMX where flat pedals allow foot repositioning and bail-outs—clipless pedals limit trick flexibility and increase injury risk in park/street environments. Requires compatible BMX racing shoes with two-bolt cleat mounting—verify shoe compatibility before purchasing pedals. Installation requires pedal wrench or 8mm Allen key (verify spindle type). Regular maintenance: check bearing smoothness and spindle tightness; inspect cleats for wear and replace when engagement becomes inconsistent.
