Product Overview
The IKON Carbon is a 20" carbon fiber rim designed for BMX racing with rim brakes. Constructed from Toray T700 carbon fiber in a UD (unidirectional) weave with a brake track surface, this rim accommodates 20x1.40" to 20x1.95" tires on the standard 406mm bead diameter. The 32mm width provides increased tire support and stability while achieving a significant weight reduction compared to aluminum rims of similar size.

Compatibility and Ideal Use Cases
This rim is designed for standard 20" BMX frames using rim brakes—primarily as a rear wheel with V-brakes, though it also works with U-brakes or caliper brakes. The 406mm bead diameter is the standard BMX size used across racing, park, and street bikes. The 36-hole drilling works with standard 36-spoke hubs in various lacing patterns including 2-cross and 3-cross. Note the 377.4mm ERD requires proper spoke length calculation—verify spoke length before ordering or building.
Best suited for competitive BMX racers who use rim brakes and want maximum weight savings without sacrificing strength. The carbon construction saves approximately 180g (6 oz) per wheelset compared to equivalent aluminum rims, reducing rotational weight for faster acceleration. The 32mm width accommodates modern wider racing tires (1.60" to 1.95"), providing improved grip and tire stability at lower pressures. Critical: This rim requires carbon-specific brake pads—standard rubber pads designed for aluminum will overheat the carbon and can cause catastrophic rim failure. Tubeless Ready System - Our rims feature a Bead Lock System, needed for the rim to be Tubeless Ready. With the installation of additional items needed you can get the rim ready for tubeless set up, along with the usage of a tubeless specific tire. With a tubeless set up, you can lighten up your wheels, saveing rotational weight, as well as have a sealant inside your tubeless ready tire to help automatically repair small punctures.
Additional items needed to convert to a Tubeless system include Special Valve, Sealant Rim Tape, and Liquid sealer.
V-Braking Compatible - Designed to be used as a rear rim when using a V-brake.
