Description
S&M 4-Piece Castillo Bar
Brian Castillo's signature 4-piece handlebar, originally released in 1995 and reissued for the 30th anniversary in 2025. Manufactured on the original bending and knurling machines used three decades ago, built from thick-walled chromoly tubing with deep knurling on the stem tube. Made in the USA using the same tooling and fixtures as the original production run.
Key Features
- Thick-walled chromoly tubing – Increased wall thickness provides higher strength and resistance to bending or denting compared to standard-wall bars
- Deep knurling on stem tube – Aggressive texture creates secure grip between bar and stem to prevent slipping during riding
- Traditional 4-piece welded construction – Four separate tubes welded together for strength without unnecessary complexity of multi-piece designs
- 7" rise with low crossbar placement – Provides moderate height for street and park riding while keeping crossbar out of the way during barspins and tricks
- 1.5° upsweep and 6° backsweep – Geometry positions grips at natural wrist angle for comfort during extended sessions and reduces arm fatigue
- Original manufacturing process – Bent, knurled, and welded using the same machines and fixtures from 1995 production for authentic period-correct construction

Compatibility and Ideal Use Cases
Fits standard front load and top load stems with appropriate clamp diameter. The 7" rise and 25.75" width suit riders between 5'6" and 6'0" tall who prefer mid-height bars for street, park, and transition riding. The moderate rise and swept-back geometry balance control and comfort for technical street riding and barspins. Best for riders seeking authentic mid-90s BMX geometry or those who appreciate traditional 4-piece construction over modern multi-piece or butted designs.
