Description
S&M Intrikat 8.5″ Flatland Handlebars
Product Overview
The S&M Intrikat 8.5″ Bar is a flatland-specific handlebar designed in collaboration with S&M team rider Chad Johnston to meet the precise handling requirements of flatland riding. Built with 100% chromoly tubing and made in the USA, these bars feature carefully dialed sweep angles and crossbar positioning optimized for smooth transitions and body positioning during technical flatland maneuvers. The geometry prioritizes control and precision over aggressive street or park riding characteristics.
Key Features
- Flatland-specific geometry – 3° upsweep and 6° backsweep are tuned for neutral hand positioning and precise steering input during rolling, spinning, and balancing tricks
- 0.625″ crossbar drop – Lower crossbar placement provides clearance for body positioning and eliminates interference during scuffing and other flatland techniques
- 27″ width and 8.5″ rise – Proportions balance leverage for control with compact dimensions that don't interfere with body movement or bike spinning
- 4130 chromoly construction with post-weld heat treatment – Full chromoly tubing receives 4-quadrant baked heat treatment after welding to normalize stress points and increase fatigue resistance
- Made in USA – Manufactured domestically with quality control standards and materials traceability

Compatibility and Ideal Use Cases
These bars fit standard BMX stems with 22.2mm clamp diameter (7/8″ bars). The geometry is purpose-built for flatland riding where precise steering, multiple hand positions, and unobstructed body movement are critical. Best suited for dedicated flatland riders or those learning flatland-specific tricks who need bars that won't fight against technical maneuvers. The 27″ width is narrower than typical street or park bars (28–30″), reducing interference during spins and allowing tighter body positioning. The moderate 8.5″ rise works well with flatland frame geometry and riding postures. Not recommended for street, park, or dirt riding where wider bars and different sweep angles provide better control for jumps and aggressive riding.
